Society Members In Other Productions

Monday 8th May 2006 at 11:00 AM

Yet again, a number of our society members are preparing to take to the stage in various productions.

Daniel Doherty (below, right) is currently rehearsing for the RTE Mystery Musical, which will be performed in The O'Mahoney Hall in The Helix, Dublin on May 28th. Daniel was selected for inclusion in the performance following a nationwide search for Ireland's most talented performers. Since last October, RTÉ Radio 1 has been travelling all over Ireland to select singers for chorus and principal roles to take part in this production of Carousel by Rogers and Hammerstein. A chorus of over 100 singers from the 32 counties, accompanied by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra will take part in the performance, which will be recorded for broadcast on RTÉ Radio 1.

Tickets for the performance can be booked online at www.helix.ie.

Also in rehearsals at the moment is Niall Heaney (above, left). Niall is currently preparing to take part in a production of Peter Kennedy's God Bless Archie Dean with Encore Theatre Company, Galway. Niall will play the part of St. Peter in the show that our own society performed in 2000 as the last show in what was the Castle Cinema. Also taking part in the show is former society member, Judith Campbell, who last performed with the society in the 1994 production of The New Moon.

The show, which is being directed by Peter Kennedy, who is also playing the now infamous character, Toby, will run for 3 nights in the Temperance Hall, Loughrea on May 11, 13 & 14, before moving to the Town Hall Theatre, Galway from May 22 - 27.
