Mary Heaney Appointed AIMS President

Tuesday 2nd February 2010 at 12:00 PM

Long-time society member Mary Heaney was elected National President of the Association of Irish Musical Societies (A.I.M.S.) at the national A.G.M., held in Salthill, Galway on Sunday 31st January. This is a great honour for both the society and the Western region of AIMS, as Mary is the first President from the region in the association's 45 year history.

Mary was elected un-opposed by delgates from all over the 32 counties, and was congratulated by out-going President Winston Johnston. Her year as President will involve travelling to many productions by AIMS-affiliated societies all over the country. She will also deliver a speech to the 1,000 strong crowd on the night of the AIMS Awards Ceremony in Killarney in June.

Everyone in the society wishes Mary the very best of luck in the role. We have no doubt that she will do both the society members and the town proud during her term.
