The society recently held a successful Stars In Their Eyes fundraiser in Riverisland nite club, Castlerea on Saturday 28th September. This was the 5th time the society has run such an event. The host on the night was Daniel Doherty.
All 20 acts on the night were of a very high standard, leaving the audience and the judges, Shane Farrell (Loughrea), Clodagh Farrell (Loughrea) and Edel O'Neill (Ballinrobe), with some very difficult decisions to make. After the votes were counted, the winners were announced as:
1st: Barbara Streisand and Neil Diamond (Julie Connolly and Michael Coen)
2nd: Shirley Temple (Majella Flanagan)
3rd: Elvis Presley (Kevin Heaney)
The society is very grateful to all those who took part in the event, and to the audience on the night, who made the event the success that it was.
