The society had great reason to celebrate over the weekend with the announcement by AIMS of the nominations for their awards for 2004. Castlerea Musical Society has received two nominations this year: one for "Best Stage Manager" for Walter Heaney and the other for the "Spirit of AIMS/Adjudicator’s Special Award" which recognises the entire society in terms of "Conditions in which to stage a show".
Our Stage Manager, Walter Heaney, will be up against the Stage Managers from Athenry and Ennis Musical Societies respectively, while the society is competing with Tullamore Musical Society and Cecilian Arts and Dramatic Society, Dublin for the "Spirit of AIMS" award.
The winners will be announced at the annual awards banquet which will be held in the Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney on Saturday June 19th as part of the annual AIMS seminar.
Congratulations also to the other Western Region societies who received nominations on Saturday, namely Athenry, Ballinrobe, Galway, Loughrea, Patrician's, Sligo and Tuam. Best of luck to all these and our own nominees in Killarney on June 19th.
