Rehearsals for the society's forthcoming production of "Honk!" are now well underway, with Christmas and the New Year behind us and opening night looming on the horizon.
"Honk!", the musical version of the story of the ugly duckling, will be performed in the Roscommon Arts Centre from 23rd - 28th February 2009.
The role of "Ugly", the duckling, will be played by Kieran Croghan, with his parents "Ida" and "Drake" being played by Julie Connolly and David Cooke, respectively. The evil-minded "Cat" will be played by Daniel Doherty.
The leading players will be very well supported by some well known local performers: Frances Cooke as "Lowbutt", Olivia McGarry as "Queenie", Chris Duffy as "Bulllfrog", Natasha McGarry as "Maureen", Caroline Madigan as "Dot" and Ivan Moran as "Greylag".
The cast and committee have thus far been delighted with the input of this year's new production team. Director is Michael Coen from Ballinrobe, Musical Director is Dr. Joseph Ryan from Athlone, Chorus Mistress is Heather Shine, also from Athlone, and the Choreographer is Vivienne Caldbeck-Moran from Boyle.
Tickets for "Honk!" can only be booked by contacting the Roscommon Arts Centre box office on (090) 6625824.
