Castlerea Musical Society are delighted to announce that "Fiddler on the Roof" is the show choice for 2013.
"Fidder on the Roof" is an all-time classic musical, which tells the story of Teyve the milkman and his family living with fellow Jews in the small rural town of Anatevka in Tsarist Russia in the early 1900's. "Fiddler" contains some well known songs such as "Tradition", "Matchmaker, matchmaker", "If I were a rich man" and "Sunrise, sunset" and won the Tony award on Broadway for Best Musical in 1964.
The society last produced "Fiddler on the Roof" in February 1990 in the Castle Cinema, but the society is excited to bring "Fiddler" to a whole new audience again, 23 years later.
"Fiddler on the Roof" will be directed by Castlerea native Niall Heaney, Musical Director will be Shane Farrell from Kilconly, Co. Galway and Vivienne Caldbeck-Moran from Boyle will Choreograph.
The show will be staged in The Hub, Castlerea in February 2013, with auditions and rehearsals to begin in the Autumn. Further details will be available closer to the time.
