The nominations in the 2014 AIMS Award scheme were announced on Sunday 18th May in New Ross. The Society was delighted to hear that Jackie Kenny has been nominated for the Best Female Singer award for her portrayal of "Mother" in our recent production of Ragtime The Musical!
Jackie is a long-time member of the Society, having first taken to the stage in South Pacific in 1989. This is her first AIMS nomination as a member of Castlerea M.S., but was previous nominated for the same award in 2001 while performing with Galway M.S.
Jackie has been nominated alongside two other actresses - Shonagh Lyons, who played "Emma" in Jekyll & Hyde with Londonderry Musical Society, and Bronagh Walsh who played "Christine" in The Phantom Of The Opera with Fusion Theatre, Lisburn.
We were also happy to hear that two other members of our Ragtime team were nominated for other roles - Peter Kennedy, Director of Ragtime, was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category for the role of "Pilate" in Jesus Christ Superstar with Loughrea M.S., and Shane Kelly, who played "Coalhouse" in Ragtime, was nominated for the Best Actor category for the part of "Judas" in the same show.
The award winners will be announced at the annual AIMS Awards weekend in Killarney on Saturday 14th June. As always, the Society will be well represented on the night!
