Castlerea Musical Society is delighted to announce that the show choice for next year has been finalised, and more importantly, rights have been confirmed!
The Society's show for 2016 will be the classic American musical "GUYS AND DOLLS".
"Guys and Dolls" was first staged on Broadway in 1950, winning 5 Tony awards in 1951, including the award for Best Musical. 1955 saw the release of a film version starring Frank Sinatra, Jean Simmons and Marlon Brando.
"Guys and Dolls", with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser, tells the story of gamblers, showgirls, con-men and missionaries in 1920's & 30's Manhattan, and is known for some timeless musical numbers, such as "A Bushel and a Peck", "Luck Be A Lady" & "Sit Down Your Rockin' The Boat".
The show was previously produced by the Society in 1988, when it ran in the Castle Cinema for 4 nights. The Society will be very proud to once again present this classic show 28 years later! Full details on show dates, auditions, rehearsals and the production team will be announced at a later date.
