The nominations in the AIMS Adjudication & Awards Scheme 2016/2017 were announced last Sunday in New Ross, Co. Wexford. We were delighted to hear that the Society's production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels has been nominated for the Best House Management award in the Gilbert section!
This nomination is a fitting reward for our Front of House Manager, Clare Kelly, and all her team, including ticket sellers, programme sellers, car park attendants and ushers. Special mention must go to the staff and students of St. Michael's Special School, Castlerea for their work on our Front of House display this year.
Also nominated for the award is Shannon Musical Society (9 To 5 The Musical) and Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society (Legally Blonde).
Congratulations also go to our Musical Director, Shane Farrell, who has been nominated for the Best Musical Director award for Sweeney Todd by Bravo Theatre Group, Loughrea, to former Society member, and Boyle native, Robert Reid, who has been nominated for the Best Comedian award for the role of Nanki-Poo in Hot Mikado with Corofin Musical Society and another former member, Shane Kelly, who has been nominated for the Best Male Singer award for the role of Anatoly in Marian Choral Society, Tuam's production of Chess.
Our congratulations also go our friends in Ballinrobe Musical Society (Best Comedian), 9 Arch Musical Society, Claregalway (Best Supporting Female), Bravo Theatre Group, Loughrea (Best Supporting Actor, Best Female Singer), Loughrea Musical Society (Spirit of AIMS), Galway Musical Society (Best Stage Manager, Best Visual, Best Supporting Actor), Claremorris Musical Society (Best Comedian), Galway University Musical Society (Best Choreography) and St. Mel's Musical Society, Longford (Best Programme).
All award winners will be announced during the AIMS awards banquet, which will take place on Saturday 17th June in the I.N.E.C. in Killarney.
